Jacktastic

Jack was selected as the 9th grade "Student of the Month" at Maple Grove Junior High. Apparently it has something to do with good grades, participation in band / choir / drama, volunteering, leadership, and citizenship. Although it may be associated with his flowing locks of wavy brown hair. Either way, props to Jackson Brownpants. Additionally, he is starting marching band (tuba), doing the pole vault on the track and field team, and participating in the state Destination Imagination competition on April 21st. Now if I can only get him to make his bed.

Another Gopher

Big YAY for Andrew, who just today received word that he has been officially invited to matriculate at the University of Minnesota this fall. And he plans to accept the invitation. He is happy and somewhat relieved, as are his proud parents. Now he can sluff off the rest of his senior year.
Actually, this guy does not sluff. Three weeks ago he (and a few other students) organized and hosted an event for high school youth which was held at Cretin-Durham Hall High School - "Youth Summit for the Americas." There were many presenters and lively discussion about the Dream Act, immigration, the changing political scene of Latin America, U.S. military and economic policies in Latin America, and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. This coming weekend Andrew is traveling to Chicago with a group who will be protesting and demonstrating regarding the fast food industry's maltreatment of agricultural workers - sporsored by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. He is also completing his mentorship with Patrick Leet and Witness for Peace. So much for the wayward youth of America.

No more days of Slack!

Hello Stenzelbloggers- We wanted to put the word out that according to Dr. Templeman, Jim is good to go back to work. Eight hour days, with some restrictions- No lifting over 30 pounds, no stairs, and standing for no more than 1/2 of the workday. The cane and crutches are no longer in use. There is still weakness in the right leg and foot, which hopfully can be remedied by some physical therapy to come, however, there is a possibility of nerve damage- the next 2 months will tell that tale. We appreciate all of the care, concern and help you have given to us through this ordeal, and we're looking forward to a much better summer this year, and seeing you all in the warmer days to come.
