Another Gopher

Big YAY for Andrew, who just today received word that he has been officially invited to matriculate at the University of Minnesota this fall. And he plans to accept the invitation. He is happy and somewhat relieved, as are his proud parents. Now he can sluff off the rest of his senior year.
Actually, this guy does not sluff. Three weeks ago he (and a few other students) organized and hosted an event for high school youth which was held at Cretin-Durham Hall High School - "Youth Summit for the Americas." There were many presenters and lively discussion about the Dream Act, immigration, the changing political scene of Latin America, U.S. military and economic policies in Latin America, and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. This coming weekend Andrew is traveling to Chicago with a group who will be protesting and demonstrating regarding the fast food industry's maltreatment of agricultural workers - sporsored by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. He is also completing his mentorship with Patrick Leet and Witness for Peace. So much for the wayward youth of America.

As the picture accompanying this post demonstrates so clearly, Andrew is a man outstanding in his field - clearly selfless and sloughless.
