Oliver: Tough Guy
I wanted to let everyone know that Oliver was found to have an infection in his right lower leg bone (tibia) called osteomyelitis. He was admitted to Mpls Children's Hospital on Wednesday morning and just got out today. He was treated with antibiotics intravenously and was able to be discharged on antibiotics by mouth (some need IV antibiotics for six weeks). Also thankfully he did not need any surgery and he has not had any pain for about 4 days. He is a strong and healthy kid, so responded well to treatment. He will not be able to play any sports or run around with his friends for at least 5 weeks which will be really tough for him, especially that he just made the Minor A baseball team and soccer season has officially started. We are hopeful he will make a full and uncomplicated recovery and will be able to get back to being the active kid that makes him so happy. He will continue to follow with Infectious disease and Orthopedic specialists. As characteristic of him, that smile you see above persists through the challenging times!

Oliver, you are SO lucky that you didn't have to stay in the hospital for 4 weeks of IV antibiotics. That would have happened if you were born 10 years ago. I'm very sorry that you have to miss Minor A, but it could be worse. You could have been born 10 years ago as a no-talent bum. In the big picture, you're a winner!
Oliver you are our hero! We were sorry that you had to be in the hospital but we had fun hanging out with you. Avae really enjoyed playing mindcraft with you. We feel bad about your sports. That's such a bummer. You are welcome to come over and play with Charlie and Roadie any time you want!
Do you think that kid discovered his mindcraft account that you and Avae changed? HaHaHa🤔😲😬😂😜🤓💩😹
Glad to hear that you are recovering, Oliver! We are sorry that you had to go through a bunch of medical crap, and that you can't participate in sports for awhile. But being healthy is the most important thing. We are saving a hot tub for you at Bass Lake - whenever you are ready!
Love, Pete and Kathy
